Chamber Announces a New Excellence Award
December 18, 2015
The Cornwall Chamber of Commerce has announced the introduction of a new award to be presented at the 2016 Business Excellence Awards and Citizen of the Year banquet.
The Tourism Excellence Award, sponsored by Cornwall and the Counties Tourism, will be presented to a business within the region’s tourism-related business sector with a demonstrated history of excellence. The Tourism Excellence Award winner will have shown itself to be a key player in its role of increasing tourist awareness of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry as a key destination.
“This new award will showcase a for-profit business that has played a significant role, both regionally and beyond, in the growth and sustainability of our local tourism sector,” announced Cornwall and the Counties Tourism Executive Director, Linda Wilson.
“The business selected for the award will be one that exemplifies the factors that have played a role in its success including outstanding employee relations, economic development, business growth, and contribution to the community,” she continued. According to Wilson, all for-profit businesses within the tourism sector could be considered for the award, such as retailers, accommodations, attractions, restaurants, etc.
“We’re pleased that an important sector of our regional economy has agreed to sponsor this award,” says Chamber Executive Manager, Lezlie Strasser. “Business excellence is the driving force behind the Chamber’s Awards Banquet, and this new award will be a welcome addition.”
