Awards Banquet Chamber’s Most Distinguished Affair
November 25, 2016
November 25, 2016 – On February 25, 2017, the Cornwall Chamber will celebrate business with an important event. Excellence is a key to Cornwall’s economic growth and prosperity and the City abounds with both firms and individuals who are the engines of that success and who support the community in many ways.
The Chamber of Commerce will salute a number of these firms and individuals with its distinguished Business Excellence Awards and Citizen of the Year banquet. The glittering affair pays tribute to business professionals, companies, and individuals who have made a positive difference in the community.
“The Chamber is proud to recognize firms and individuals who have excelled in various business sectors,” affirms the association’s President, Rory MacLennan.” While we are able to identify some of them, we believe that people in our community can be the best judge when it comes to nominating candidates and we look to the public for recommendations.”
There are five principal business awards: Business of the Year, Economic Impact, Entrepreneur of the Year, Tourism, and Small Business of the Year. Individual awards include Above and Beyond, Team Cornwall Ambassador, and the Lifetime Business Achievement. There are also two special awards, Breakthrough, and the Dr. Garth Taylor Humanitarian but they are only bestowed when there are worthy candidates or an event.
Then, there is the Citizen of the Year. “This is a significant award, one that recognizes the extraordinary contribution to the community, given selflessly by one of our local people,” confirms MacLennan. “The announced winner during the upcoming banquet will be the 45th in a long list of distinguished Cornwall and areas citizens who have been so honoured.”
The Chamber is now seeking nominations in the various categories and people throughout the region are encouraged to submit. They will find the forms on the Chamber’s web site here . They can also drop the completed forms off at the Chamber office: 113 Second Street East.
